Mountain Biking in New Mexico

Although I am suffering from ocean-withdrawal after getting back from our most recent Marine Medicine CME course, I am reminded that Albuquerque New Mexico is blessed with exceptional weather and great mountain biking.

Keeping in mind that exercise is the best medicine, I will be posting the first entry in this series: 100 Mountain Bike Rides in 100 Days. Here are the first three rides

Day one: East Mountain High School Trail. This is located on La Madera Road near Cedar Crest, New Mexico.

This is a short loop ride starting at the East Mountain High School that takes you to the Paako Ridge subdivision. Nice rolling trails at moderate altitude.

Day two: Chamisoso Canyon

Chamisoso Canyon near Tijeras, New Mexico. There are sunflowers in the lower canyon this time of year and the monsoon rains have resulted in greenery in abundance. This is my go to ride in the East Mountains when I am pressed for time. Only about 15 minutes from home and yet a different world..
